چکیده

Future space missions will require the integration of voice, video and data communications at increasing speeds and reduced costs. Both manned and un-manned missions may use the NASA/JPL Deep Space Network (DSN), which consists of two segments, the space segment and the ground segment. The space segment will use Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) Advanced Orbiting Systems (AOS) protocols which end at the DSN ground stations. These protocols have been designed with the intended channel being a space segment. The ground based segments may use the emerging standard for broadband communications of integrated services called Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). ATM has been designed with the intended channel being optical bre. Thus the integration of the space segment with the ground network poses various implementation issues. The issues addressed here are the possible methods for integrating CCSDS AOS with ATM.

Performance analysis of CCSDS File Delivery Protocol and erasure coding techniques in deep space environments

The rising demand for multimedia services even in hazardous environments, such as space missions and military theatres, and the consequent need of proper internetworking technologies have revealed the performance limits experienced by TCP protocol over long-delay and lossy links and highlighted the importance of the communication features provided by the protocol architectures proposed by the C...

An Unknown Input Observer for Fault Detection Based on Sliding Mode Observer in Electrical Steering Assist Systems

Steering assist system controls the force transfer behavior of the steering system and improves the steering probability of the vehicle. Moreover, it is an interface between the diver and vehicle. Fault detection in electrical assisted steering systems is a challenging problem due to frequently use of these systems. This paper addresses the fault detection and reconstruction in automotive elect...

M1, M2, ..., Mk/G1, G2,..., Gk/l/N Queue with Buffer Division and Push-Out Schemes for ATM Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this paper, loss probabilities and steady state probabilities of data packets for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network are investigated under the buffer division and push-out schemes. Data packets are classified in classes k which arrive in Poisson fashion to the service facility and are served with general service rate under buffer division scheme, finite buffer space N is divided in...

Space Flight Middleware: Remote AMS over DTN for Delay- Tolerant Messaging

This paper describes a technique for implementing scalable, reliable, multi-source multipoint data distribution in space flight communications – Delay-Tolerant Reliable Multicast (DTRM) – that is fully supported by the “Remote AMS” (RAMS) protocol of the Asynchronous Message Service (AMS) proposed for standardization within the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS). The DTRM arc...

Operating Cfdp in the Interplanetary Internet

CFDP (CCSDS File Delivery Protocol) is a new international standard developed to meet a comprehensive set of deep space file transfer requirements, as articulated by a number of space agencies including NASA, ESA, NASDA, CNES, and BNSC/DERA. In addition, CFDP will in effect serve as a prototype for the future Interplanetary Internet (IPN) as envisioned by the IPN Study team: it encompasses a su...
